it's freezing in LA!

IFLA! is a new independent magazine with a fresh perspective on climate change. Too often, environmental discussion is polarised into one of two categories: the remote, technical language of science, or the hotheaded outrage of activism. This magazine finds the middle ground, inviting writers and illustrators from a variety of fields to give us their take on how climate change will affect — and is affecting — society. We want to help untangle the climate tensions and choices that our generation will have to navigate by platforming as many different perspectives as we can find. IFLA! provides original, engaging and surprising content that you will want to read — widening environmental discussion and offering a range of vocabulary and insights not found elsewhere.

A magazine with a more serious note, the graphic design for It's Freezing in LA is perfectly readable yet interesting. Taking the title of the magazine from a Trump quote, using graphics taken from heat data from wildfires, the vales and importance of the magazine's topics are at the forefront of the design. I think this publication is a really important tool in today's climate change battle. On their second issue, the 3rd is asking for collaborators. I think including illustration is also a really important point here. It gives a lighthearted, accessible tone to the extremely dark and gloomy subjects being discussed.

I purchased my copies as a digital file for half the price as print. This is clearly another important tool, reducing print media consumption and allowing the information within to be accessible immediately.
