Research/initial ideas -
Bauhaus and Herbert Bayer's Universal.
Futura
First presented by the Bauer Type Foundry in 1928, Futura is commonly considered the major typeface development to come out of the Constructivist orientation of the Bauhaus movement in Germany.
I really like the development of these original, rounded bauhaus typefaces into something more bold, stencilled and interesting, such as the Futura Black. After completing the type workshop with Jake from work-form, I discovered the wedge serif. I love how the angular shape of the serifs creates a much more modern, almost modular style typeface.
GRILLI TYPE
GT Sectra - a modernised wedge-ish serif.
STENCIL TYPE
I really like the rounded forms of the lowercase stencil type - especially the Dutch style of the Stedelijk.
